999

If someone is in immediate danger in the UK, call 999.

An account may have been compromised.

Go directly to the affected service's official app or website and search its help or support pages — each provider has its own account-recovery process. Follow it from a device you trust.

Money or bank details may be at risk.

Contact your bank promptly through its official app or a phone number you already know — not one from the message. Be cautious of anyone who later contacts you offering to recover lost money for a fee: that is a common follow-up scam.

A phone or device is missing.

From a device you trust, use the official find-and-lock service for the phone: Apple devices use Find Devices at iCloud.com/find, Android phones use Google's Find Hub. Then contact your mobile provider to secure the account and SIM, and your bank if banking apps were signed in on the device.

I'm worried about someone contacting my child.

Listen and reassure your child that they can ask for help. If you're concerned about online sexual abuse or grooming, CEOP provides a reporting route for children, parents and carers.

My child is upset by something online.

Give them space to talk and take the concern seriously. Childline offers free, confidential information and support for children and young people.
